MAKE AN ENTRANCE

Your front entrance is the first thing you or a guest is going to see when you come home. If it is yourself walking in after a long day at the office, you want your first sight to be refreshing and provide you with the comfort of home. If it is your guests walking into your house for the first day it sets the expectations for the remainder of the home. It is a great opportunity to express your style and make a personal statement. Here's some tips and tricks on how to get an entrance that will wow.

Console tables are handy to have by the door. This gives you a place to set down your keys or mail when you come in. You may want one with drawers to throw the mail in and hide any clutter, or something with a shelf underneath for more storage, or an open space to slide seating under. A nice console will become the statement piece and you can style it however you desire.

Seating is a must have by the door so people can sit and take on or off their shoes. Whether it be a built in bench, a chair or an ottoman you can really chose whatever works best for you. If you are limited on space it might be best to consider a console table that is open underneath and keep ottomans there that can be easily pulled out and tucked back in when finished with.

Mirrors can be handy to have for the last minute check before leaving the house. Gotta make sure everything is on point before the big date, am I right?! Lol. Another bonus, if your entrance is a narrow hall or small area, a mirror will help to reflect & create more light as well as give the illusion of more space.

Lighting of some sort is important to have if your ever coming home at night time - it also provides an opportunity for another aesthetic element. I, personally, love the look of flanking two lamps on either side of the console to create balance.

All you need to do now is accessorize! Fresh plants, books, baskets, key bowl, whatever you want! Tip: If you entry is too small for a table try using a small floating shelf and opting for wall sconces & hooks.
